These were a very inexpensive project and the kids loved doing them. I really wanted to finish them off and send them home matted, but I never found reasonably priced picture mats for this size. If you were just doing one or two for yourself it is worth buying mats.
What You will Need:
- Craft Paint
- Water Color Paint
- Heavy Water Color paper
Step 1. Using craft paint, paint over entire palm of hand including fingers and thumb. Remember tip of fingers are bottom of legs, so if you are going to want white markings on legs that is where you would paint white.
Step 2. Press hand firmly down on paper. Use other hand to push knuckle joints flat onto paper. Once you lift your hands, wash them off. I know this seems obvious, but remember I’m dealing with young kids most of the time.
Step 3. Using craft paint, paint horse’s head on end of thumb along with ears and mane. Add a tail that shows movement and hooves. Add eyes and nostrils.
Step 4. Using water colors, paint background and foreground.
